Arts Council England has developed a new arts-based segmentation of
English adults comprising 13 distinct groups.

This research provides new insight into how and why different kinds of
people engage with the arts in England today. It can also be used,
alongside existing tools, as a source of insight and ideas for
developing new audiences for the arts.

New opportunities from Northern Print

Invitation to submit work to the Northern Print Christmas Show.
This is the second Studio Member's group exhibition that we've had in Ouseburn and is a great opportunity for everyone to have some work on show.

As well as inviting you to submit work for the show we would also like studio members to send us suggestions for the exhibition title. Please send us/let us know your suggestions before Friday 12th September.

Deadline for submissions of work is Saturday 11th October.

Please note all works must be printed on paper no bigger or smaller than 12 x 12 inches.

Visual Roots is a new initiative supporting accredited placements for vulnerable and hard to reach young people in visual arts venues. The programme is managed by engage and funded by the Department for Children, Schools and Families in 2008/09 and the National Lottery through Arts Council England in 2009/10. From 2008 –10 twenty placements will take place in ten visual arts venues across England.

With the launch of the ACE outdoor strategy and emerging opportunities including 2012 Olympiad programs there are distinct benefits of establishing links between UK and other arts organisations. Given the connection between sport and art that circus offers and the fact that the opening ceremonies of most major sporting events tend to focus on spectacle and displays It is perhaps no coincidence that Circus is a priority ACE area in the run up to 2012. As a relatively new, but rapidly expanding artform, UK contemporary circus faces challenges limiting its growth and development. In particular to move forward it needs to develop skilled and experienced cultural leaders with an understanding of the sector. To maximise the opportunities for UK circus and the wider UK arts environment, the best way forward perhaps is to develop links and partnerships.
